Hey there guys and gals! It’s been a while hasn’t it? I must admit that I’ve been a very bad blogger, but I’m hoping to change that going forwards.
My wife and I moved into a new place recently since the loft where we used to live was being torn down to make room for condos. It’s a shame that condos are quickly taking over the streets here in Toronto and the beautiful buildings of yesterday are becoming mere memories.

In other news I will be showing a piece in The Almighty Dunny show down in NYC, unfortunately I won’t be there for the event. I will have pictures up soon of the finish piece.

I’m Back

I’m back from my trip around Asia. It was amazing, and I can’t wait to go back. While travelling I had the oppotunity to checkout Jomike Tejido Jomike Tejido’s Robotars custom show in Manila, for more on that checkout the article I wrote for Spankystokes. Robotars is a really cool platform with a lot of potential, I highly recommend checking it out.

I’m currently traveling Asia, and I’ll be back in Canada in early May. I’ll have more news on the first toy in my upcoming series then, hopefully it will be ready in the very near future.

My custom kub kar

Afte thinking for a while about what I wanted to do with my kit I ended up deciding to incorporate the legs and feet of the resin toy I’m in the middle of producing. I ended up creating a board for them to ride on inspired by both longboards, and the z-boys designs from way back when. I tossed in a little Ottawa inside joke, and the creation was born!

Kub Kar Show & Shine

This is the next show that I’ll be participating in

Jamie aka Mad-Hatters-Neverland made a post over at the October Toys Forum explaining the idea behind the show:

I’m a cub scout leader (hard to believe I know). What this means is that I put in endless hours of work a week to “teach” and “entertain” a group of 30 kids how to become better – better people, better whatever, just better.

Beyond this, I also run the area rally for 150 kids + families. Once a year, we give the kids a “Kub Kar Kit” (Pinewood Derby in the USA) – basically a block of wood, 4 wheels and some nails and they design and build a car (of course) to race in a rally.

I’d love to have a mini show (in March) based on these kits at the rally – the Ultimate DIY Kit. Yes, there are rally rules about weight and size etc. but I decided that for this show/experiment, I’m not going to limit the pieces to the “rules” – heck, I don’t even care if it runs as a “car”. The only criteria is that it use the wood and wheels as the starting point.

If anyone’s interested in taking part, I’ll send you 2 kits – one for you to send back for the show and one for you to keep. Just remember that at least half the audience will be kids. If this idea sounds cool by anybody – or if you have a better idea, PM me

I believe he is still taking people on for this show, so if you’re interested send him a message.

I’m really looking forwards to this project. I was a cub in my younger years, and I really loved building the Kub Kars.

I broke out the watercolours tonight so that I could do a proper rendition of this hairy fella. He’s known as The Raconteur, and he will be appearing again in the very near future.

October Toys Gwin Devil Project

I really like the October Toys Forums. There’s a nice little community there that is free of trolls and other undesirables in a message board environment. George who is one of the owners of October Toys put a call out to artists on the forum for a special Gwin project he was working on. 11 artists supplied their intrepretation of a Satanic Pentagram and George added the designs to blind bagged custom Gwins he did up for SDCC. They will be available at the October Toys booth #4838 so don’t sleep on these.

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!

So if you’ve been following the SundayDoodle shenanigans over on my twitter you know the score. For those that don’t here’s the skinny: Every sunday, unless otherwise noted, I tweet a message around 8am stating #SundayDoodle is on, and ask for suggestions on what to draw. The first reply is the one I go with.

To date these are the suggestions that I have received and doodled:
-puple monkey dishwasher
-a lady with a dishwasher face baking muffins
-a rabid granny with a highly religious cat
-a robotic gerbil
-a magical pony and ice cream
-zombie vegetables
-a badger dressed as a Victorian gentleman riding a robotic unicorn that’s far too angular for it’s own safety
-an army of cocks invading earth

I will be taking better photos of these and posting them on my flickr.

This Sunday I’ll be doing something a li ttle different. The requests will still go out as normal and I can’t wait to see which suggestion comes in first, remember nothing is too bizzare or taboo for me to doodle. So it’s a secret, but if you like what I’ve done so far you’ll want to be around Sunday morning. The call usually goes out around 7 or 8am EST. See you there!

Starmen are out on the loose!

They may be small in stature, but they are definitely huge in courage. Starmen are always running around in the oddest of places exploring the unkown.

Keep an eye out for them. When a few are spotted there always many more, they just might not be as easily spotted as these two.
